I was having a conversation with one of my cousins the other day and she came up with a stupid topic about how it is the end of humanity in 2012. She mentioned per the Mayan calendar the world is coming to an end in approximately a year’s time. I told her how lame her thinking was. Our world which has now existed for more than 4 billion years suddenly would cease to exist because of a Mayan calendar? You’ve got to be kidding me. There is nothing peculiar about the year 2012 that would lead to this mass carnage that they are predicting. The only thing on the said date of 21st Dec 2012 which would stand out is that there will be a solstice occurrence on that day; as every year.

And this is not the 1st time the “end of the world” phenomenon has been promoted. It is just a gimmick by shameless Hollywood producers who don’t leave anything to cash on to make a movie and some so called authors who have run out of original ideas and have to seek refugee on the tried and tested formula of the world is coming to an end. So it isn’t just stupid but it is all white lies and fraud by clever marketing campaign for worthless movies and books.

And the truth about the Mayan calendar is that one of its several calendars is the long count calendar which is reset back to day 0 every 7057.5 years. Some crack pot in the Mayan civilization did some calculation of his own and came up with a date that is 21st Dec 2012. Now is that a good enough reason for the end of the world? For all you know his math was weak and he could have missed or added a year. So does that mean you are going to die now or 2 years later? Course not. They don’t have any scientific proof to prove this, just some stupid theory on more stupid prophecies given by strange men.

I know of some people who love to breed on such disaster in the making stories and make others believe such rumors. I feel they are low life scum’s who feed on others fears, and the Mayan calendar seems like one such phenomenon. I dare such people who are so confident that the world will end next year to go and apply for a huge personal loan and have fun with the money. If the world ends, you had good fun in your end days and I lose, but if it doesn’t then get ready to pay for the rest of your life, with extra interest rate for stupidity. Now let’s see who has the balls to do that.

All I want to tell everyone is sleep peacefully on the night on 21st Dec because there will be a very happy day on the 22nd Dec because you will be busy shopping for Christmas or planning on how to bring in the new year 2013. There are better things out there to worry about like pollution, the ozone layer and other things which could actually lead to the end of the world. Try to change that and make a better future for the coming generations than just wasting time waiting for something that will never happen
